Moving iPod from Windows to Mac - special character problem and formatting question

Hi all, I've just bought my first iMac and love it! After reading past posts, I've managed to move my iTunes library to the Mac without losing any of the metadata, but I have two questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with?

1. A lot of my songs had brackets, colons etc that were not recognised when the files came over so I now have 1600 songs that I have to go into individually to reassign them to their file. Is there any way of doing this all at once, or even a whole album at once? I'm still very new to the Mac (this is my second day of having one) so I'm thinking there may be an easier way that I just don't know of.

2. My iPod is formatted to Windows. Is there any reason why I should reformat it for the Mac seeing it is recognising it ok? I've got 80gb of music and video on it so don't want to have to put it all back on if there is no benefit. I'm probably going to upgrade sometime to the 160gb iPod, in which case if I sell my old one, it may be easier to have it in Windows format.

Thank you very much for your help.
