by coincidence, this morning, i was looking at cables to connect my iPod to the projector at work so i can watch certain "training videos" on night shift!

i noticed that one product made the comment that it could do what you are asking,

http://www.frequency.com.au/sales/ip.../connectivity/

scroll down to "SendStation PocketDock AV"

umm thats exactly what the link is - an iPod AV cable that can also connect a MB/MBP to a TV.

"Tip: Got a 15" or 17" PowerBook? Attach the cable to the built-in 7-pin video connector and output your screen content to a TV. It's great for watching DVDs in your hotel room!"

....or am i missing something here??

dont think so. the headphone socket on the macbok is just for audio and wont provide you a video signal. you will need to use some sort of DVI to video adapter for your TV
