Exclamation Video, music video on iPod 60Gb 5th Generation

Hi, I have a 60Gb 5th Gen. iPod video. I won it last year, and since I've had it I've had a lot of trouble with getting any form of video to work on it. The only type of video that will fully function are video podcasts. My main problems are:

* I convert videos to iTunes format, but then they often don't appear on iTunes

* If they are on iTunes, I press sync to my iPod, but then they don't appear on my iPod

* I have so far managed to get only one music video on my iPod, and the sound won't play (the video itself will). It's the same for any other videos I have previously put on- video, but no sound.

If you can please help me I'll be really grateful!

Thanks so much,

Cathygirl.

Hi cathy,

can we get a little more info

are you running windows or os x??
what software are you using to convert your video? the video needs to be a particular dimension to work on your ipod - this is easy to achieve and there are a lot of software products that do it- im sure its a simple configuration issue

Thanks for replying,

I'm running windows XP, and the videos are actually video files on my laptop. They often don't end up converting properly. What I do is, I have a Windows media player file, I add it to iTunes, which then asks me if I want to convert it to iTunes.

I then click that, and iTunes spends time converting it to its own format, and it's then supposed to be in my library. In the past, when it hasn't ended up on my iPod, I find the video, then right-click and select 'convert to iPod' or something along those lines. It still doesn't work.
