itunes- load onto new hard-drive help

Recently bought new hard drive, I have a 1st Gen ipod nano, the current HD I use has win2000, the new hard drive, win xp pro.
Can someone tell me the best way to get the files from current HD to new one? Is there a program that I can use? Or is the best way is to save all files(including songs and Itunes) from current HD and burn them to cd, and then upload them to new HD?

Thanks

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question, I am not really computer snavy, I am wanting to know how do I get the current itune settings on one HD, onto a new HD, that is currently not set up. Do I copy onto a blank cd, the files which have all the songs, artwork, itunes settings etc and when I have new HD set up, download Itunes first and then copy from cd the files saved from previous HD?
The current HD has win2000, the new one is Win XP .

How do you copy from one HD to another? Did you have 2 computers next to each other, with some kind of cord that you connect from one to the other? Or did you copy the files onto a cd(burnt) and then download itunes on new HD, followed by copying saved files on burnt disk onto new HD.

Which files do I save onto cd? The ones like this:-

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Music

This(ABOVE) folder has the ALBUM ARTWORK,ITUNES MUSIC and,PREVIOUS ITUNES LIBRARIES folders, as well it has (not folders), ITUNES LIBRARY AND ITUNES MUSIC LIBRARY(XML file this last one) .

Thanks

I'd strongly suggest you go to the Apple Support pages and look at iTunes support.http://apple.com/support Or go tohttp://www.ilounge.com and seek some support there.

In short you need everyint thing in the "iTunes Music" folder. Copy it to the new drive (by burning onto CD if you don't have a flash drive or other device) Once copied you then need to go back to the instructions above.

Given you sound like you have very limited computer experience finding someone with some knowledge locally might be a good idea.

Good lucl

Thanks for you help, I am going to save all the files in my Itunes folder onto a cd(via burning to it), Is there anything else I should do before I copy the files, even in Itunes itself? Also after I have copied them, should I deactivate the Itunes on the HD that I am not going to be using anymore?

If you go to File -> "Backup To Disc..." and then just keep feeding it CD's, you'll have an easy way of transferring your library.

On the XP PC, once the CD has been recognised, iTunes will ask if you want to restore the library. Click yes.
