Do you need an ipod now? if so, then get one.

If you dont need an ipod now, and willing to wait for eternity (or some unknown period) then wait it out if you dont need an ipod now that is.

Usually, september'ish is the time that ipods are released (well it was that case last year and the year before).

seems to me that the next ipod out will be a big shift from what we're used to...this might be your last chance to get an ipod in its current design. that's why I got one a few weeks ago.

I got one recently because I needed one! When the iPhone-like iPod comes out, I may chuck it in the bin and get a new one! :P

Buy, buy, buy!

You are experiencing the age-old Apple/Mac fan's dilemma.

I say BUY.

Agreed. And iPods are -relatively- inexpensive, especially Shuffles and low-storage space Nanos. Keep in mind too that iPod updates aren't -always- rumoured / announced in advance like the current iPod Shuffle line.

As far as possible savings go with future updates: Time spent without something one really wants/needs also comes at a cost.

Also keep in mind that iPod prices are fairly low at the moment. With a new release (i.e. the 6G iPod) Apple is sure to take the opportunity to jack up prices again.

buy, they are not that expensive and if a new one comes out just buy it as well.... the is no better look on someones face than being handed your old ipod as you got another...

It is a pain to buy a new one when they get stolen though

Wanting to purchase the 80gig... and rumors i hear is that screen size will change to iphone for next model - larger video viewing as per ZUNE.

Otherwise i'll get one this weekend, but if the NEW model is out in 4 month time with larger viewing size i will wait.

if you are looking for a video iPod.. then I say wait.
big things ahead... (Im totally speculating and have nothing to go on other than the iPhone)
but after June (and the iPhone) we will see some iPod action.

If however you are looking at shuffles or nanos... then buy..

Remember, it's not the size that counts...

It's the resolution!

As far as I know, the Zune's screen is bigger, but it's the same resolution. What's the point? The image will just look worse.

If the iPod's specs are what you need, why wait? You don't need to be on the bleeding edge of technology all the time.
