iTunes 7.0.2 Major Issues! / Reverting back to iTunes earlier version?
I have a backup of course on my Lacie HDD Porche drive. I think I'll just revert back to that. I haven't donwloaded much music since. Although I have a funny feeling it might be a version 7 version. i.e 7.0.1. If it isn't then, score!
When ever I do major updates I backup the data on the external drive to save this from happening.
Possibly this might fix it up.
I'll have a look when I get home.
Or I can wait till they have fixed the Coverflow issues. Does Apple include "fixed Coverflow issues" when they update versions of there software in the release notes?

In the former versions of iTunes - like version 4.6 - the cover art was embedded in the MP3s - as part of the MP3 file, no?
In older versions of iTunes - the place it stored everything was in Users / Home / Music / iTunes folder - which contained: iTunes Library file, iTunes Music folder, iTunes Music Library.xml file and more often than not, a Previous iTunes Music folder - containing one or more: iTunes 4 Music Library files.
Where was the cover art stored back then? Inside the MP3 itself ?
But if one looks at iTunes 7.0.2 now, and what it stores in its iTunes folder - there's an Album Artwork folder there, and inside that, a hierarchy of folders containing untyped .itc files. Are itc's - I Tunes Covers ?
More to the point - are they "your" Covers - or are they "iTunes' replacement Covers ? And how sturdy are these images / files - or how flimsy ?
It would seem iTunes 7's Cover Art must come in from the iTunes Music Store, and this is now manditory - although there may be a hack around it, yet it would appear that iTunes 7.0.2 is programmed to do so.
Do you have your former iTunes Folder backed up anywhere ?

I myself have had no problems running iTunes 7 (0.1 and 0.2) and have updated upon issue. My entire library is fairly large (20.38GB) but have never had any problems.
I once had a crash when converting video footage for my iPod but apart from that, no problems.
(Edit: S*** these are windows versions. Bear with me while i find the Mac ones. Edit: cant find them, it might take you a while.)
Anyway. Just delete your old version of iTunes and install 7.0.1 or 7.0.0.
I am pretty sure that you can't go back past 7.0.0 as it upgraded your library upon opening to work with coverflow, new features, etc. I am unsure if 7.0.2 did, all you can do is try.
If you fail to install it properly just download 7.0.2 from Apple's site and everything should be back to how it was. It probably wont be long until iTunes 7.0.3 is released.

You can get album art from various sources, copy it, ?-i the song in itunes, go to album art and paste it in.

As an experiment, you could always just select one track in iTunes - and then Control-Click on it - and when you see the pop-out menu open from your cursor, scroll down to: Get Album Artwork ?

You need an iTunes account for that (I have one and I assume at least 75% of people on these forums do). But what happens if iTunes does not have that particular song, or with the particular metadata you gave it?
The answer: wikipedia

Then I guess it's back to the manual click-'n-drag.

From the OP, I have no idea what the major issues are and what mac he is using, only a small mention of CoverFlow, this has gone down an Album Art road, is this the right track...
CoverScout from Equinux is your best friend when it comes to Album Art...

Ok here was the Deal
Mac OS X 10.3.9, iBook G4, 1.2Ghz, 768MB, 60Gig
The issue happened when I used Coverflow view option within iTunes 7.0.2.
What happens is major pixilisation issues with the screen jumping all over the place.
The Apple Support mentioned creating a new user account to get rid of this issue. It didn't resolve the issue. As when I imported a new cd, and went to the Coverflow view area it still did the same thing. This is actually the first major issue I have had with my Mac since I bought the thing back in 2004. (or was it '05?)
I have ready other articles on the Apple Discussion site via apple.com and there is a lot of mention from Mac users having the same problem.
What I'm looking at doing I'd say is unless they can resolve the issue with me over the phone this evening I'll revert back to an old version of iTunes which I had previousely backed up on a external HDD. This will probabaly help me with the issue that I have.
I can email anyone screen shots if they like. Just shoot me over a PM
Cheers
iso.

i would be more inclined to wait for iTunes 7.1 which will be released in a few weeks before trying downgrading...

If you could attach a screen shot to a post everyone could have a look.

The only problem I have with the latest iTunes is a cosmetic one...
(funny I was going to make my own post about it today).. but I'll tag along here
you will note that the text is all blurry above the album art...
I get that also in the music columns titles...
other than that I have had no problems...
I imagine that the next version of iTunes will fix it....
