Yea, I noticed the same thing when comparing with my Polar heart rate monitor. The heart rate monitor is more accurate as it is reading your bodies stress levels better, the nike plus is just guestimating.

What is everyone using to hold the sensor? I've been putting mine under my shoelaces but it's not a permanent solution. Has anyone actually bought and used a shoe pouch or similar?

where does it mention that and what is active hours? You can't turn it off so it will always be using battery power. I am betting people will need to buy one every year/ every set of runners.
Pretty poor and environmentally wasteful to not be able to simply replace the cell. and of course you won't be able to buy a sensor replacement - you will need to buy a whole kit.

Actually you can turn it off - there's a little button on the underside. I would be surprised if it lasted any less than a year, personally.

I use a Nike shoe wallet that I got for about $10 on eBay. There is also a Marware pouch available for the sensor.

I just bought one on eBay bundled with a wrist/arm band for USD$29. Just be careful, after payment the buyer I bought from is claiming the insurance is USD$15.5 to Australia instead USD$2.5 listed in the auction.

Does that mean you can't get it wet (say walking/running on the beach), strange seeing it should go in your sole.

It's a sealed rubber button, the unit is waterproof.

People actually cut a little inside their shoes, then the innersole goes on top. It won't effect the shoes performance or yours.

Here's a pic done to a pair of Brooke shoes.

tcn33 - I have sent you a PM to add me to the challenge

I went for my first run today. Not just my first run with the Nike+ kit, but my first run in a long time. I'm really unfit. Hopefully this might motivate me to keep the running up so that I'm not puffed by the time I reach the end of the street

um.....Ill find the link but it doesnt work probly on treadmills. It wont recored every step. it will for long parts say you current pace is --:-- . meaning nothing is being recorded. Most tredmills are out anyway. becasue when you run normaly your foot is in contact with the ground and isnt moving. where on a tredmil your foot is moving backwards stuffing the whole thing up.

I will find the link but calibrating it too a tredmill is a big no no

Wow, this thread is certainly alive now

zen(at)simplyxen.com

In the middle of exams right now, and don't want to kill myself before finishing them first. Glad I'm not the only unfit one in the group

There's probably another explaination why Apple didn't want people running with a full size iPod apart from HDD issue. It's just too damn big and heavy for running! I mean where on earth are you suppose to strap it without getting too awkward.

But I have to say just give it some time and somebody will come up with a hack to support all iPods very shortly.

Its by no means scientific but most people can know if they can run less. People who are fitter can make a new group

Happy running
My wife just brought home the nike /ipod brochure for me - she said they had a big display and demo at Myer Pac Fair. I think the brochure was a hint for me to get off my bum

Can you register a Nike ID before you purchase the kit?
How does this group work - the most km covered in a month/week/day, what?
