I ordered my Nike+iPod Sports Kit today from Apple, along with an Apple armband for the iPod nano, but now when I look closer at the picture of the armband, it doesn't look like it is going to be compatible with the Nike+ receiver. Does anyone know if this is the case? If so I can cancel the armband order before Apple process it in the morning.

Hrmm, should I spend this $50? I suppose it is a great way to get my arse off the couch and start running again.

My mother in-law flew back in from Hawaii and she bought me back the runners and the official Nike plus arm band, which takes the receiver.

Seems you need you special one (perhaps check the US store first) and should cancel the order.

Nope it won't fit, the apple branded armbands are the wrong ones (Just tried mine out then).

You'll need to get the Nike branded one (or a third party one that is designed to hold the nano and the wireless receiver).

Thanks the_OM & Formulagpguys,

After a bit more investigating I cancelled the order for the armband last night, and got an email from Apple today saying my new nano and the Nike+ sports kit had shipped today.

Instead of getting myself a set of Nike shoes I ended up ordering the Marware Sportsuit Sensor+. Maybe I'll look at a pair of Nike's when my current shoes ware out.

I just need to find myself an armband now. I can't seem to find anyone in Australia selling the Nike one, or any other Nike+ compatible model. I did notice that Marware are also selling a wristband, the Sportsuit™ Relay, but I think I like the look of the Nike one better. I don't really think I'd need to read the screen while I'm running, and finding the centre button while running looks like it might be easier with the Nike armband. I might have to resort to eBay.

Got mine this morning at around 9am. Went for a short run just then and boy oh boy, I'm so unfit! I have yet to calibrate mine and I'm just running with the sensor stuck on the lip of my shoe, so don't know how accurate that could be. So how do I join this group?

Is it just me or the nike website doesn't like firefox?

the folks that have them - the battery is not replacable, do you think you could pry it apart to replace the battery? Any idea how long the battery lasts before you need to throw $50 away and buy a new one? Nike just says battery life will vary! (means nothing)

as the receiver fits in the dock connection, does it fit other ipods with dock connectors?

How come it only works with the Nano? What's stopping it to work with the 5G iPod - software hack?

I would suspect that the software that makes it work is actually in the Nano ( and distributed via one of the updates at some point for older ones).
