 Ipod mini, WIN to MAC reformat without music loss?

hi

i was given an ipod mini with music in it! the unit is formatted for a windows machine. my mac recognises the ipod, but it's contents aren't hilighted, so it's asking me if i want to reformat! it states "reformatting will erase all contents of the ipod"!

is there a way to keep the music from the ipod, and make it mac compatible?

you will have to transfer the music onto the computer first with Senuti avail. on Versiontracker (maybe?) then format in disk utility.
