not long ago i 'hacked' my ipods firmware so that cool little icons displayed alongside each of the menu items. i was also gonna put custom startup/busy pics on it but didnt get round to it. this required the ipod to be formatted for windows use, which was cool cos windows ipods can be used on both macs and pcs

but ever since doing this i rekon iv noticed a serious lag when browsing and skipping..

was wondering if anyone know if this could be true or is it in my head? is it to do with the different file structuring used by the different formats? anyone else have experience using mac and pc formatted ipods?

its really shitting me and i rekon il change it back to mac formatting with the new update... pity cos not only did i like the icons but it was cool to be able to use it between my mac and my girlies pc to transfer files and stuf..

Methinks it's more likely due to your hacking. My iPod is PC-formatted and it works fine with my Mac. Maybe you could try another PC format restore?

on this topic, is there a way you can format the ipod for pc without erasing it completely, or is there a way you can pc format it on a mac?

You need to run the Windows software updater, so that means Virtual PC (or Windoze on a hacked Macintel!)
