Why on earth would Apple do that? They have done nothing wrong, it was the end-user who decided to play around with putting 'extras' on the iPod, so why would Apple replace the iPod if you make a mistake?
this is why:

I bit the bullet and applied mine last night....(It was VERY frustrating...but the end results are worth it). It's currently drying (can't use it for 24 hours - thank god I still have my old one!)

I'm going to post some pictures tonight. I'm very happy with the finish...but I need to see the screen in action before I give my final judgement.

I must say, it doesn't look too bad now that they've left the clickwheel cover off. It actually DOES look invisible now (which it definitely didn't before).
I did apply the click wheel cover (it's seperate so you can elect not to). I wasn't going to but I already had a minor scratch on the wheel. I think it looks OK.

Why on earth would you buy this overpriced gimmick? A $3 skin from decalgirl does exactly the same thing. I have a cool desert camo skin protecting my mini and they're great. The skin is solid but not too thick, doesn't wear easily and it peeling it off is a cinch.

Got a website link?

EDIT: OK www.decalgirl.com (kind of obvious). How long did it take to arrive? Any Aussie sellers? Does it really protect the iPod, I'm really worried about scratching my 5G iPod (black: very noticable is I do).... Don't know what to buy. Other product does seem a bit of a rip off $50US is nuts! Does the clickwheel gget covered on the decal girl ones though? Judging from the website it does. I don't like that.

I ordered two skins for my mini. Each was ~$10AUD. They also sell "Screen armour" for ~$5AUD which gives you three screen protectors for your ipod. I ordered on a Friday night so my order wasn't shipped until the next business day (Monday) but they were really good about keeping me informed via e-mail.

Shipping was ~$15AUD which is a flat fee for most items. I'd imagine you could order quite a bit and still not increase the cost since they weigh next no nothing. The order took ~7-10 days to arrive from memory.

The skins themselves are really easy to apply, there's no risk of air bubbles. The best thing though is that they can be peeled off and re-applied without any problems. I messed around with mine at least three or four times before I was happy with how it sat on my ipod. The only criticism I have is that the cover for my scroll-wheel. was about 1mm too big so on one side it sits over the gap between the wheel and the ipod chasis.

Still, they're very durable and come in heaps of patterns/colours which is great -- best of all, they're cheap so if you don't like them you can easily replace 'em

So the decalgirl ones don't cover the screen - you need to buy the screen armour as well as the skins? I was thinking of buying 2 clear, the aqua, union jack one (slightly obsessed with england) and the neo pink one, that's 5. Too many? Do I need 5? And (last question) if I buy 5 do I also need to buy 5 screen protectors?

We're ordering about 10 protectors in total - for 5G video, 4G photo and 2 x minis and a PSP. Do they all need screen protectors plus the skins or is the screen protected on the skins already?

I hate mail order. It'd be so much easier to go to a shop and look at them! You can't see anything in the little photos they supply, although they say the click wheel is separate, which is good. They look like pretty cool little products....

You need as many screen protectors as you have devices. When you change skins you don't need to change screen protectors. They're very cool things. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with decalgirl again.
