Free single of the week (12th December 2006):
 Pick Up The Pieces by Paul McLaney.
From the opening refrain and the languid notes to the gentle plucking and wistful vocals, "Pick Up the Pieces" is a charmingly delicate entreat to love. The track is lifted from Paul McLaney's new solo album, Edin, which is a beautiful soliloquy to love.

We Are Amphibious by Children Collide.
"We Are Amphibious" is a potent slab of energised fury from this volatile Melbourne duo. The blazing tune featured here as free Single of the Week takes a bit of evolution a long way. Maybe we all did spring out of the watery swamps eons ago, but Children Collide aren't trying to challenge Darwin - they just know how to make grand, surreal proclamations sound anthyemic.

Free single of the week (2nd January 2007):
Origami Tree by Dardanelles.
"Origami Tree" is a track from the debut of Melbourne's dark dance floor post-punkers, Dardanelles. The group has listed its influences as everyone from Johnny Cash to Kraftwerk, from the KLF to NWA. Believe it or not, you can hear it in the music - from the rigid, yet groovy rhythm section to the raspy, honest vocals. This track whips up a whirlwind of despair to a danceable beat - what more do you need?

What for? I like the ability to go back and have a look back at the free songs and what people have said. Sticky is good, but why remove peoples posts. How would you like it if someone came up and removed your posts for no reason? |

Starky's self-titled debut is full of bright moments, but we thought "Me Michelle" summed up the group best. The guitars cut through the riff-raff and get to the point. These boys are here to be lovelorn and distraught. Their only escape? The healing power of dance-punk! Or dark, purposeful punk-glam with a 4/4 beat, to be more specific..

Sirens by Temper Trap.
Melbourne's Temper Trap has been a permanent fixture on our iPods since the band's music first crossed the iTunes desk.
