Dengue Fever, "Escape from Dragon House", a new indie band in the US. Their lead singer, Chhom Nimol, previously a famous pop singer in Cambodia forms the vocal thrust for the band with a gorgeous voice to match the girl. The rest of the band are Zac Holtzman (Dieselhed) on guitar, Senon Williams (Radar Brothers) on bass, David Rallick (Beck) on sax, Ethan Holtzman on farfisa & Paul Smith on drums

Indie Rock + Go Go + Cambodian vocals make an excellent and refreshing combination.

Yeayy - got back from India last night (where I was definitely not going to plug my powerbook in and download anything!) and have downloaded my first album! Malcolm McLaren's Fans. Yes, I know, pretty retro, but there you go! I love it!!

I think I'm going to follow someone else's suggestion from here, and just buy some of those $20 cards from Coles and use them to purchase music, rather than keeping on putting it onto my credit card though! I can see that would/will be very dangerous!!

Anyone else run out of things to buy? I have maybe 2 albums left in my wish list, theyre just;

1) Not adding new stuff as fast a regular record shop
2) Not responding to requests at all!

Daniel.

I'm actually quite surprised by this one!!

not the fact that you bought it (oops) but the quality.
I also bought it the other night... and am finding I am quite drawn to it!
Some very good songs on there... some that sound alot like previous songs of hers... but good to see the old forumla working for her again.

I have a very diverse preference of music!?!?!

i did have 'gomez - in our gun' in my shoppping cart for $17.99, but just found it on CD from jb hi-fi for $14.99

for me the physical CD will almost always win, unless i'm not going to buy the whole album, or it's a lot cheaper on iTMS. but saying that, there are a lot of EPs on iTMS that i'll probably buy!

I bought Micheal Palin's Around the World in Eighty Days on audiobook.

Cost me $28.99 for 7hrs and 37mins of entertainment. I listen to it in my car to and from work. Its nice to hear the author read their own work.

My only complaint was burning it to CD. The 3 files are too long for one CD and so have to span 2. There is only one chapter mark in each file which means if you lose your place on the CD you have to do a lot of searching.

I realise it is designed for an iPod but it would be nice to have a few more chapter marks in each file. I borrowed one of his audiobooks from the library and it had chapter marks every 10mins.

Having said that I'm angling for some iTunes music cards for Xmas to buy the other audiobooks he has done (Himalaya, Sahara, Pole to Pole and Full Circle).

Much cheaper to buy them on iTunes than on CD (somehting like nearly $80 per title).

Nick Drake-Bryter Later, Jamie Cullum's latest and The Police's Greatest so far...wishing for Frank Zappa and Harry Nilsson plus more Jimmy Smith and more jazz albums from the Verve and Impulse labels. Perhaps I'm dreaming?

OMG, imagine if they did the "Complete Frank Zappa" like the U2 box set.. I would be compelled to buy. Imagine the stuff they could dig up from bootlegs etc.

I think this thread made more sense when the iTMS just came out.

I'd hate to have to list all my purchased songs.
