Well since you own the CD's you should be able to just re rip them again.

Unless the case was that you downloaded them from the internet to which in that case…

Well... you can download utilities that will let you get the music that's on your iPod and put it back on the computer. This really shouldn't happen even with a dodgy iPod, because you should *always* make sure you have iTunes set up to sync via a playlist. That way you'll have a copy of everything.

If someone's (ie. your dad) is deleting files off or erasing the entire computer then you're probably fighting an uphill battle.

Are you using a Mac or PC? If it's a Mac then tell your dad that it definitely doesn't have any viruses

And then if I were you I'd sync the iPod myself, instead of getting Dad to do it...that way you can upload whatever you want, and know its been done properly.

Honey, aren't you using Windows? Maybe you need a Mac now?

Find someone with a mac and some knowledge of terminal and ask them to get everything off your iPod.

Perhaps I'm being cynical but after spending time on the Apple support boards I'm amazed at how frequently people have a disk crash. Every second thread on there was from people who had ripped all their music, transferred it to their iPod and then had their hard disk go south so could someone please tell them how to copy all the music files back off their iPod.

If the songs are still on your iPod you can get them off with EphPod.
