Do you want to sync once, or on a regular basis?

Address & calendars I can understand the need for a constant sync, but I don't see much point for applications.

Files are fairly easy to sync, but the XML lists that keep track of music (iTunes) and photos (iPhoto) are not so easy.

I use SilverKeeper for files (came free with my Lacie drive), but there are other free utils.

Please give some more specific details.

Would like to sync Calender & Adress book on a weekly basis.

Ideally sync photos & itunes would be beneficial, but can make do with transferring selectively - if this is readily done via firewire cable?

Access to free utils easy? But, would like to be confident of consistent sync performance before I try.

Cheers
