 Moving Windows Ie Bookmarks Into Firefox?

I have a folder of Windows IE v6 Favorites, all with the extension .url. Safari would not allow me to import them when I first opened it, presumably because they were not from a Mac version of IE. Firefox will not allow me to import them as a folder or even open them when clicked on individually (to use 'open with' just means Firefox will ask me what program to open the files with.) My only method so far has been to open the .url files with Safari, cut and paste the addresses into Firefox, and manually bookmark them. Needless to say, this has rapidly grown tedious.

So, my question is, is there a better way? Can I make Firefox import my whole folder? Is there a way to covert all files in the folder into address/bookmarks Firefox understands? Anything at all that can help me with this?

If you open the .url files with a text editor, what's inside them?

With any luck, it's just a url. There may be a program listed on Versiontracker.com or MacUpdate.com that imports IE favourites to Safari.

If you still have the windows machine that the bookmarks (in IE6) on it, install firefox and import the bookmarks in and then export them to a separate file and copy them to your mac. that is how i did it when I was migrating to the mac platform.

Currawong, this is what they come up like in textedit:
[DEFAULT]
BASEURL=http://www.blahblah.com/blah.html
[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://www.blahblah.com/blah.html
Modified=E089D4B9EB22C501C9

I tried a program called GoWeb which purported to open and convert all browsers' favourites/bookmarks, but baulked at this folder, so it looks like I may have go the Windows Firefox route, luckily, I do still have the Windows box.
