Gosh I am furious!
The Commonwealth bank just updated their netbanking service so THAT IT NO LONGER SUPPORTS SAFARI. They say you need to use Netscape if you are on a Mac. I tried with Safari anyway and it just does not recognize your password when you enter it.
So I downloaded netscape, opened it up, went to the same page put in my username and password and got this:
Quote:
As a result of too many incorrect attempts to access this facility, your access to this service has been frozen. Please telephone the Help Desk to have your password reset.
|
Garsh! This is the worst service ever. Anyone with netbank please send an email to support demanding Safari support.

Going from those messages, my guess would be that you mistyped your password. I can't think of any reason that Safari would mangle a password that works with Mozilla.

That is very poor service by the CBA.
I know it may seem drastic, but consider changing banks. Westpac Internet Banking works flawlessly in Safari, Firefox etc.

I not quite sure if you meen no help desk help or what, but right now i am loged in to Netbank with Safari, and it's working fine.
Edit: I just found the document you might be refering to, it say the the browser that I am running is not 100% compliant. But they support Netscape and sighting the fact that Netscape, Firefox and Safari use the same W3C standards, it should work the same.

I am sure I typed my password fine. I am going to change banks tomorrow anyway, the CBA is like the Microsoft of the banking world.

Go to the National Australia Bank (NAB).
I have been with them since I was a wee little man, and their customer service is above par to any other bank that I know of. Extremely helpful, and believe they offer a professionalism that not many other banks offer.
Hope that helps with you making your mind up.
Adam.

Yeah thats great, thanks Adam. I was thinking of either them or St George.
Ok I am a bit calmer now too, sorry about that explosion. It came from a place of frustration. I wanted to transfer some funds into my keycard account so I could buy tiger tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to re-enable it in the morning so I can.
Thanks for your comments guys, its interesting to know that you are not experiencing any problems. Maybe it is something on my end - it was just working so well before this little CBA Update.
Cheers,
-Zac

By the way if you visit http://www.national.com.au/Internet_...,,3732,00.html
it has the technical specifications for National Internet Banking, and it clearly states that the NAB supports Apple.

I got locked out of the stupid netbank thing three years ago. It's simply too hard to get my password changed - they can't do it in an actual branch FFS. How stupid is that?! The only place they can really identify me properly and all I can do there is be told that I need to call some stupid number that puts me on hold for 20 minutes.
I'm going to finally move banks (got a reason to now - IAG is refusing to send me dividend cheques anymore, must be deposited into the bank. For my convenience they claim... :angry and I think NAB is the way for me to go.
I'd honestly be happy enough if they sent me cash and I kept in my cupboard after the crap I've had from banks.
Well there's my rant for today.

I'm with the NAB, and their netbanking site will claim that Safari isn't supported either (with a nice checkbox to say 'Sod off, I'm using it anyhow').
I hate to say it, but I do tech support for a living, and if I had a dollar for every customer that swore up and down that they'd typed the right password when it was clearly incorrect I'd be typing this from a dual-G5 instead of a PowerBook. In between snorting cocaine from the stomach of a supermodel, naturally. :P
