hey guys

Im setting up a site using iweb

just wondering how can i have it so i can have multiple users with their own passwords to acces pats of the sites, i know if i want one section to be password protected its best to make a "new site" and password it which is fine to do but I want to have multiple ppl loging on with their own passwrds, does that mean I have to have say 40 "new sites" with the same info?

iWeb is not really set up to do this other than in the '40 new sites' method.

The way the big sites do it is by having usernames and passwords stored in a database and talking back and forwards to it using a language called SQL (pronounced "sequel"). iWed isn't designed to use SQL really as using SQL and PHP/ASP/VBScript is mostly beyond the capabilities of an average person... which is what iWeb is aimed at pleasing.

is that a possibility? im not using .mac account to host it its all on my own web hosting

.htaccess might be an option... but it's a pretty code heavy system to use. If you've got an apache server set up for your hosting it's not a bad road to head down.
