Hey boddiz, Why why didn't you send the disks when you sent the macbook? That was part of the sale, right. Sounds like cactus68 needs them to operate the mac. You should send them ASAP and close the sale. How would you feel if it was you?!

Good luck to both of you in resolving this.

From above, disks were shipped with the mac, however a mistake was made and the disks were from another macbook. Easy to do when apple dont label the restore disks with a model.

The seller has also mentioned that he is express posting a retail leopard DVD, i dont see what the issue is. Honest mistakes happen and the laptop was shipped in working order with an up-to date copy of Leopard installed.

Where are you up to mate? I have had the pleasure of reinstalling a hard-drive in my macbook and rebuilding a 'fried' ibook in the past two weeks with my time off work....let me ask?

1-so you can format your hdd yeah? thats great because there are some macbooks out there with hdd faults

2-you have install discs yeah? original or "back up" copies are fine (as long as they were burnt correctly).

3-is your dvd drive free or is there a disc still stuck in? hold down mouse button on start up to eject, let me know if this does not work.

4- insert install disc and on start up, hold down the option key before the little music plays and you should see your hard drive, the install disc and network icons. do you see those?

5-use disk utility to format your hard drive and click on the install icon and follow instructions.

I know have skipped alot of steps mate, but i need to know more about the current status of your macbook (whats working and what is not) and what you have tried.....

p.s. another tip, is this your first mac? try installing mac os x on a 16gb usb key on another intel mac then use the usb key on this macbook (hold option key on startup). The intel macs can boot from usb drive.

For a start I did send the disks, but they were the wrong ones. the mac was operating when he got it, and then he did a clean install. There is no need for the lectures, especially when you havent even got your facts right. As also stated, we have solved this problems via PMs, so maybe you should read the whole thing, before you start acting like a teacher, yeah?

Not to mention the only Tiger disks that i have that are intel and boot a fair few models came from a Developer Program Release and were never available for sale.
Some of the last shipped retail copies of Tiger were 10.4.7, and booted both Intel and PPC. Apple did a rotation just before Leopard was released.
