mobile me conact syncing gone mad

Hi

Was playing with the wife's iphone the other night. Was trying to get a number out of the SIM that wasn't stored in our address book.

After hitting import contacts from sim in the seting page I had an extra 115 new contacts.

We didn't want these. Some are old and wrong, some duplicated, and some not required.

Well thanks to the joy or push the Mobile Me Version and my other iPhone have all of the new contacts.

So far only one computer at home was not set to sync automatically and has been set to manual sync now. It is the only computer with the original contact set.

My long winded question is directed to how to push the unaffected contacts from my iMac back out to mobile me and the iphones and other computers.

Every time I go to "sync" with the imac with the unaffected contacts it only wants to add the extra 115 contacts, not delete them from the cloud.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Len

There might be a way to force a sync in one direction only, but I can't think of it offhand. In your position I would do this:

1. Delete your MobileMe account from your iPhone entirely.
2. Delete the incorrect contacts from the "affected" Mac.
3. Set MobileMe back up on the iPhone so that the correct list of contacts will sync.
4. Re-enable automatic sync on the "unaffected" Mac.

Do not follow these instructions. What you need to do, is;

Back up your correct address box within the Application.

Then go into MobileMe Preferences, click on the Sync tab, then click on advanced in the bottom right corner, you'll see reset sync data.
Click that you will see and box with a computer and a cloud in it, with an arrow probably pointing to the computer, click it so the arrow is facing towards the cloud.
Above that is a drop down box, if you click that, and select contacts and the click replace and yes to all prompts.

Go to MobileMe afterwards and confirm the contacts are correct, and it'll update to your iPhone.
