I can't abide column view either, I prefer the standard list view and lots of small icons. Love those flip triangles.

I suspect whatever this was might have been deliberate on the part of Apple to stop extra clicks on an item taking you too far. Regardless, it doesn't happen in 10.5.4.

I could only imagine it was deliberate, too... I mean, surely there has to be code there stopping it "working".

I just find it annoying, as I can navigate fast with icon view - except for when the system wont let me...
