iWeb Pro, and Adobe vs Apple...

Hey there...

I was listening to Podcast 7 the other day (haha, a bit behind I know..) but you guys were talking about iWeb Pro...

Now I understand that Apple has Pro equivalents for its other apps, eg iPhoto < Aperture, iMovie < Final Cut Express < Final Cut Studio, GarageBand < Logic Express/Studio, but what about iWeb?

Now I understand that there are parts of the iLife suite which don't have Pro equivalents (iTunes is awesome anyway, I don't think they'd be able to offer anything else which adds on what iTunes already has) but surely they can offer a Pro equivalent of iWeb? From what you guys said in the podcast, iWeb produces overly-average code - it'd be good, for instance, if the Pro version was more like Dreamweaver and allowed you to edit the HTML of a page directly.

That being said, Dreamweaver does pretty much anything - but then again, there's this choice in most the Pro apps - you can either go the way of Adobe or Apple (Lightroom = Aperture, After Effects = Motion, Premier Pro = Final Cut, SoundBooth = Logic) but that's about as far as it goes! There's no Apple-equivalent product for Contribute, for instance, nor Fireworks, nor most of the design-oriented Adobe products, such as Indesign, or Illustrator - and lets not even talk about Photoshop.

So basically, my question is - will Apple release a version of iWeb Pro (iLife X? ), or will they leave it up to Adobe to fill the holes in Apple's software collection? And on that note - which products do you use, Apple? Or their Adobe equivalents?

Can't ever see an iWeb Pro... mostly because "Pro" web geeks code by hand.

Having said that, there is a gap in the market for a decent javascript coding environment with a good debugging system. If Apple wanted to break into Dreamweaver territory this would be the way to go at it.
