Is all the parts of ilife 08 being updated to current versions?

Weird I am now seeing similar issues still trying to track down the exact cause. Will post what I find as soon as I find it.

Ever considered maybe iDVD is encoding in the background on your account, causing it to run slower when active? iDVD will encode in the background if the render option is set to "Best Proformance". Try another encoding option and see if it speeds up!

I think it's time for an Archive and Install. Not only will this give you a fresh start with apps (Wow! A working copy of iDVD!) but will allow you to keep your data. I wouldn't allow it to transfer your personal settings over because they may keep your problems on your new fresh install - instead manually move over your Photos, Music and Documents and you should be set (Archive and Install creates a folder on the root of your HD keeping all your old data there until you delete it)

Not archive and install, no. As long as you have at least 20 gigs free on your OSX petition you should be fine and not need to format any disk.

This sounds scarily like what I'm seeing.

I'm trying to create a dvd with a slide show (it's for really old people who can't use the web), when running the slide project it works smoothly and is near perfect. However if I burn it as an image, or burn it to a dvd it sticks on picture 2 eventually moves to picture 3 and then sticks forever. The music plays on.

It's driving me nuts as I've really got a limited time to get this done. Rechecked the project and it's working perfectly.

Any suggestions? This is my first proper play with iDVD 08
