Dragon Preferred on Mac?

Has anyone got experience using Dragon Preferred voice recognition software on an Intel Mac, using VMWare or Parallels? How does it run?

No I haven't tried it. But I'm assuming you've heard of the Mac Native MacSpeech Dicate, which is based on the Dragon Naturally Speaking engine?

MacSpeech Dictate is the way to go definitely, as its engine is identical to Dragon's. But Dragon Preferred does run fine in Parallels/VMware, I believe David Pogue did all his dictation virtualised.

I run DNS Preferred v9.5 on a virtual Vista on my iMac using VMWare and it runs very nicely.

I also have MacSpeech Dictate on the same Mac.

Both are excellent at voice recognition, DNS is much further ahead with functionality and control but MacSpeech Dictate will catch up and fairly quickly through regular bug fix and enhancement releases. There has been one bug fix release already and we are due a bug fix/enhancement release soon.

Thumbs up

I run DNS Preferred v9.5 on a virtual Vista on my iMac using VMWare and it runs very nicely. The VM has 1Gb of memory sharing the 2.4 CPU.

I also have MacSpeech Dictate on the same Mac.

with the release of DNS version 10 in the last day or so does this mean that Macspeech will upgrade their voice recognition engine? I assume macspeech uses DNS version 9's voice recognition engine.

Macspeech version 1.2 released on Monday. This allowa the "spell mode" seen in Dragon and thus makes it more easy to add new words and correct obscure words misheard by macspeech
