Failure to deliver email

My work friend just sent me an email saying that a lot of her emails have bounced.

Lately, (since ihug had that outtage last week) I have received back
many sent emails (don't think that it is all of them) saying that the
message was too old and that they had had something like 69 attempts
at sending them. These are messages to people who have previously
received everything I have sent them, and it isn't like their inbox is
too full, or any other such thing. I have never heard of a message
being too old to be sent before.

Now ihug, which is iiNet, did have a serious Australia wide outage last week affecting their DNS. I use the same provider and have had no problems since the outage.

Your thoughts

EDIT 24/04/08 @ 0015 Went into WhirlPool forums and came up with this answer Emails working but not to bigpond
