Smile Preview viewing pdf files in Firefox

Hi

I noticed when I open a pdf in Firefox and it uses Preview (in Leopard) it won't update the pdf file being viewed even after the same pdf file has been changed and uploaded to the web site. I know this because I saw the same pdf file being viewed in Safari and Internet Explorer on Windows (with the Adobe pdf reader).

Does Firefox or Preview have some caching problem with pdf files? How can this be fixed? Is the only answer to get Firefox in Leopard to use Adobe reader for viewing pdf files?

Thanks.

I have always used the Firefox Add-on PDF Download I have set it to use the "Use OS Default Viewer" and "Show Pop-up Dialogue" and have never had any problems with PDF files.

I just re-read your post and wonder what you have your Privacy settings set on in Firefox's preferences. In here try lowering the "History" - "Remember visited pages for the last ** days" setting, also ensure that in "Private Data" "Settings" everything is ticked except "Saved Passwords"

Thanks FineWine

I tried both your suggestions and the PDF Download add on for FireFox worked for me. I didn't have to change the setting as it fixed my problem when I used it as soon as I restarted Firefox.

Since I was using that add on with FireFox on my old computer I should've known better

Happy Easter
