It actually looks like Apple's finally got this right.
according to your style sheets the text-shadow rules are set up with #ffffff 2px 2px 1px;
That means a 2px down and 2px across offset, and a 1px blur. Which is closer to what is displayed under 10.5.2 as opposed to 10.5.1 (and previous webkit versions) The previous display look would be what I'd expect from text-shadow: #ffffff 1px 1px 0px; or text-shadow: #ffffff 1px 1px 1px;
note: The 1px 1px offset doesn't work in the old version of webkit - it doesn't display a shadow even though in theory it should... so at the moment you can have it look right one way, or the other, but not for both.

I've modified the CSS, but with saft broken with the update there's no way to override... Does anyone know how to override stylesheets for particular sites without saft?

More detail here, including some test text in 10.5.1 and 10.5.2.

Lucky I hadn't updated the laptop to 10.5.2 yet, otherwise the tests would have be harder to do.

You "fixed" it for 10.5.2 viewers... I'm not on that version of webkit which means that I no longer have the beautiful faux embossing created by the white text-shadow.
As I said above... it's an either-or situation. Pre 10.5.2 viewers will get no shadow from the new 1px 1px offset which is correct for 10.5.2, whereas 10.5.2 viewers get the wrong look from a 2px 2px offset which will look correct for previous webkit users.

Gruber has linked through to iSlayer's blog posting on this topic.
Just wondering what the traffic was following the linkage as I've noticed an ever increasing number of sites crashing after being linked to by Daring Fireball. If could share some insight iSlayer that'd be great, be it in terms of percentages or effects rather than cold hard numbers.

True, but the lack of the shadow isn't critical. Having it look borked for most regular users is a less pleasant option.

I totally agree... although I would be interested to know MacTalk's users breakdown by system. What % are on 10.5.x and what % are on 10.4.x ?

Definitely.
Also, most 10.5 users will be 10.5.2 very soon.
