[Merged] .Mac (dotmac) Purchasing on Ebay

Hi All

Sorry if this has been covered before (did a quick search but could not find).

I have decided to buy .Mac, I have 5 days left and was going to buy at DSE Powerhouse (i have a gift card) but just saw it on ebay for US$86.00, almost AUS$96.00. They send you the code via E-mail.

Has anyone here done this and if so was the transaction all good, no issues using the code with .Mac?

Thanks in advance.

Daniel

It's all the same thing, so definitely worth getting cheaper if you can.

Thumbs up for...

"californiaxgirl" - No affiliation, apart from being a satisfied customer...

Won the auction, paid for it, got it via email 20 minutes later as far as I recall.

Hmmm, she's not selling dotMac atm. I guess just look at feedback of whomever you are thinking of purchasing through, and bear in mind the old saw of "If it sounds too good to be true..."

Thanks for the info guys, think I will give it ago. It fits in line with US Reseller Pricing, US$99 is RRP so maybe a reseller is selling them for US$86.00. I just do not see how come we get slugged with such a premium price. Look at the exchange rate

Will risk it me thinks. Thanks.

I bought .Mac today from ebay and had the code sent through with in about 2 hours of paying. Entered the code with no issues at all. Nice way to save $45.00

So when the time comes to renew, you just buy one of these on eBay?

Seems like a great idea if your not going to get scammed. Might give it a go when mine is due.

I think so, I just did not select the auto renew / charge to your credit card option. In a year I will buy another from him on Ebay. I am over being ripped in Aus based on current exchange rates.

Exclamation .Mac on Ebay

I have decided to purchase a .Mac membership, and have been investigating my options.

There are a few Ebay sellers that will email you an activation code. All up, the total comes to just under $100, inclusive of exchange rates. Obviously, a $40 savings is pretty bloody good. What I don't know is, will it work? I'm concerned that the activation code is (somehow) region specific or something.

Has anyone purchased one of these and activated an account successfully? Can you recommend a seller?

No problem, took me a bit to find them as well. Just remembered that they had been discussed recently so you may find some helpful info there.

HTH.
That's a coincidence. I bought some applecare from her, but she was too late with the code and I missed the window for my Mac pro!
