Is there a way to know if someone you sent an email to has actually received it ?

I had someone who said they didn't get my email even though it was in my sent mail and the address was correct etc..

Thanks

Outlook has an option to send you a read recepit. So as soon as they open the e-mail it sends an e-mail back to you. I am not sure if this is in Mail or Entoruage.

You could always ask them to reply to it

Can't see a read receipt option in Entourage.

Just a thought....
Is there a chance that your date is wrong and the email is lost in the pile OR the recipient's date is wrong?
When the internal battery went on my old iMac, all the email I received was dated 1904 - it took me a while to realise I had mail.

My dates are all okay.

I know what you mean though, I get emails from one company in Sydney and they always say sent at sometime in the future, I assume their computer clock is incorrect ?

Thanks

There is always the spam option - could your mail have been lost due to some SPAM or Virus rules the other end had set up? Thats one reason it might not have made it to their box

Also, have they sent you an e-mail so that you can "reply" to theirs and see if that makes a difference?

Emails can get dropped all the time.

For example, a mail get sent from your SMTP server in say... Sydney, and is sent across the atlantic to the USA. If one of the network connections goes down briefly, your email can be lost forever.

Sometimes the mail queue can get stuffed, the user has used all their mail quota, spam filters pick it up, etc...

It's hardly a 100% reliable method of communication, but it's convenience sure makes up for it.
