VPN configuration on OSX 10.5 - PAP/CHAP Authentication?
I am trying to get my OSX client (10.5) connected to a SnapGear SG580 Firewall.
I have enabled the PPTP VPN Server on our firewall, but it gives me different options compared to what is available in the OSX Network VPN setup.
On the Firewall, I can change the following:
- IP address range to give to remote hosts
- IP Address to Assign to VPN Server (IP of firewall)
- Authentication Scheme (None, PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP or MS-CHAP v2)
- Required Encryption Level (None, Basic MPPE 40 Bit or Strong MPPE 128 Bit)
- Authentication Database (Local, Radius or Tacacs +)
I have tried all of the Authentication Schemes, using 128 Bit Encryption. I use the firewalls local Authentication Database where I have created a username/password. None of these seem to work - when the OSX VPN client tries to connect, it just says the server did not respond.
In OSX - the User Authentication Settings are either "Password", "RSA SecurID", "Certificate", "Kerberos" or "CryptCard" - I am not sure if any of these are equivelant to PAP, CHAP or MS-CHAP which is what I can select on the Firewall?
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Kim
