Airport Utility + Mail

I got myself an Airport Extreme yesterday, installed and its all working sweet except for email. I use an imap connection to my office email, and since switching to the Airport it's not working.

In the Airport utility I found a way to map ports however I've mapped the imap and imap ssl ports to my internal ip address, but they're still not working. I've mapped smtp and that appears to work fine...although i doubt i would have needed to map it anyway considering i presume airport lets all traffic out but restricts traffic in?

Anyone got any ideas how I can configure my mail access? I'm sure once I figure that out i'll have no problems configuring any other apps that need port mappings...

thanks

This seems an odd situation. I don't think you should need to map any ports for IMAP mail to work.

Do you have a firewall turned on? Check under sharing in the system preferences to see... maybe try setting up a special rule to let the IMAP port through in the firewall as a trouble shooting step.

In what sense? Can you be more specific? Do you get an error or does it simply not work.

haha, nevermind.

the default imap virtual server on my exchange server didn't start up automatically when i did some scheduled maintenance on the exchange yesterday. good thing i'm the only one who uses imap started it up and its all good. might remove those port mappings from airport utility now too.

thanks for the replies.
