Hi i was just wondering if there was a way possible on Mac OS X 10.4.1 to select a part of a .avi/.mp4 etc. without having to re-encode the file.
I know how to do it on Windows (new mac user, 4mtns old now ). You use a program named 'Virtual Dub Mob', select the start and end points that you want to cut out of the video and save it as another file and select 'Direct Stream Copy' which means that i just extracts the video out of the file that is already there without any re-encoding or format converting. I use it for perfomances from long performances/parts of long videos that i want and not have to have the whole file but is in the right format (aka. .avi, XVID, mp3). After all this time im still searching for something to do it but haven't found anything that does it very well...

figured out how to do it.... it easy on quicktime, just drag the little things under the timeline to the parts of the video you want to cut out and go file, save as and save it as a stand-alone movie and wala all done, thx for the reply slimy, it got me thinking about Quicktime
