So... what actually uses Core Animation?

I'm guessing that Spaces, Expose, Stacks, and Time Machine use Core Animation.

Also, guessing that the Mosaic screensaver does.

But is there anything else? So far, that WWDC/Macworld demo is the most impressive thing I've seen, but AFAIK not widely available.

Just wondering if there's some eye candy out there to show off. I did Google "show off" "core animation" without much luck.

Thanks.

on macbreak weekly they were talking a bit about this...
saying that next year when the new apps begin to make an appearance will Leopard really shine...

there's enough there for the early adopters... but it is under the hood that counts with leopard.. time to sit back and enjoy the ride.

No idea here what core animation is...

Is it going to be the next pdf... arrive with a small flurry, go unnoticed for ages, then take over everything?

Reading the ARSTechnica review of Leopard will give you a good idea what Core Animation is about. For an example though, in iChat, you have a fancy transition effect if a contact goes offline. For developers, they had to write out their own animation code for such effects before, often requiring they learn about something completely different to what their application does. Now all they have to do is slip in a bit of data into their code asking for an object to be animated, saving them time and effort.
