Has anyone successfully created a blended DVD?(mac/pc)

Using dvd studio pro to create a rather large dvd of movies still images etc, it also includes links to pdfs. Now the problem is that adding links increases the risk of compatibility with dvd players etc. Ideally I want to finish with a single dvd that opens on mac and pc without having to click any exe files first... there are a couple of programs that make an attempt at this, one is no longer available as it apparently only worked sometimes... Edvd. the other Intellidisc which looks mighty hard to understand to be honest.

Any experts out there?

Also if I insert my finished dvd into Director will the links still work?

DVD studio pro is pretty good at this.

When you say links to pdfs what do you mean exactly?
If you mean you are watching the movie and a link comes up with a link to a pdf on the disc then this should be easy to do.
There are a few pro video guys here who use DVD Pro so someone may be able to do a step by step guide for you.
I recently got a professional looking DVD sent to me about building products that had several small movies, lots of still images and lots of pdf files, but they were all contained on the disc. No links as such apart from the website of the company and some of their others within the building group.

Yeah as you move through the menus some have buttons that when clicked download a pdf. Now it works on macs if you set the preference in DVD player. It doesn't work on PC's unless they install an exe file that allows for this kind of ability. Plus they then have to re-start their machines...

This is not very user friendly.

I should probably have made this dvd in Director but it's way to late now.

One of the difficulties of using pdfs and other things linked from a DVD is that the device playing the disc must understand what to do with the file. If there isn't acrobat installed (or similar) then a PC will not open the pdf, even if the DVD has been authored perfectly. The same is true of any file, if the PC doesn't understand what helper program to use, then nothing will work no matter what you do as an author.

Some authors put pdf's on discs, and add a DVD-ROM section (as opposed to DVD-video) which contains a pdf viewer application which can be installed if no existing application works... but it will require user intervention.

As pointed out, the best way to supply an supplemental files is to have them on the disc, which DVD Studio Pro does extremely well, and link to them rather than linking to a web address where all sorts of things can go wrong at any time.

I believe that windows media player will not follow these links, isn't that why movie studios include interactual movie player on their disks?
