Then is it possible to set up gTalk in iChat after attaching the other jabber account to gTalk through Psi?
That might be simplier...Jabber.org.au doesnt support much by memory.

The one from my original post; jabber.linuxlovers.at supports MSN.

ok, I am all set up... mostly

I used Psi to set up gTalk, then used the service directory to add the jabber.no(MSN) transport. So this gave me MSN inside of my google account.

I then just set up gTalk in iChat(super easy) and now I see all of my MSN contacts in there too.

I did try setting up to see my jabber.org.au accounts from within iChat, but couldn't get that to work so I am just going to let it go. Only really had one contact in there anyway.

Then I just used 'Show Info' to add each person to the address book. I am only going to do this though for people as they come online.

I now have 2 iChat windows, and a Skype window.

I am happy for now.

Ta for everyones help.

I should add that this link was useful:

You only need to use the transports (in your case, MSN if thats all you are using) so that the accounts exist on a jabber server.

You just add your gtalk people like usual when you get back to ichat. Just make sure you have your jabber account active, not your aim/.mac one

Like I said, you do NOT have to use your registration server to provide the transports. jabber.no does the 4 majors, and once you have ichat talking to jabber, you simply add your gmail contacts because ichat knows what to do with them.

But...whatever makes it easy.

Good to hear you are set up

That is the same method I am using...and deleting the ones I don't want.

I took a break from studying...haha suprise!

I finished off the MSN emoticon set for iChat, complete with MSN shortcuts but keeping the iChat shortcuts where possible. This means full emoticon compatability between iChat and MSN Messenger and better looking emoticons in my opinion!

I will happily post the pack for others who want it..just need somewhere to host it!

I am really happy with how I have iChat set up now... MSN in the main window. My few (hopefully more soon, add me!) AIM/.Mac users in another and Bonjor down the bottom for helping the family without getting up. Have told them...if you need help just call me on iChat!

My set up:

Is there a way to use the isight camera to connect with MSN users? I've googled but haven't found a way.

i tried this a few months ago but had terrible problems when i tried to then log on to msn from another client on another pc. all my contacts had been screwed up, and i kept getting add me requests from users i already had, and then strange new ones in the form of the jabber account i'd set up. in short, i'm sticking to adium.

easiest way to video with a PC / MSN user is get them to use Skype!
That's by PC mates back up - not as good as iChat but still pretty good.

My parents and siblings can just about use MSN, they wouldn't be able to set up Skype - and they're overseas so I can't set it up for them.

Man, I really don't understand why people don't just run Adium. It's so much better than the MS client and needs no fiddling at all to get working with every protocol...

If you don't want to use someone else's jabber server: there's a hint on macosxhints about running your own: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...71030041941679

Try: http://www.mercury.im/

It's Java, it's ugly, it's slow, but it works.
