Quicktime Xvid (Perian) Problem Since Leopard

Hi all, I've noticed a weird problem when watching Xvid shows in Quicktime since installing Leopard the other day.

Every now and then either when Quicktime loses the current application focus, or sometimes if you resize the window, the Video Smoothing dies...

Similar to viewing a video on Google Video and changing the "Smooth Video" option in the bottom right from on to off.

Attached is an example of what I mean, I did a resize and it became un-smooth, and then i let it keep playing, moved the player around a bit, navigated around a bit, and then it fixed itself.

I haven't come across this problem before - anyone have any suggestions?

(un smooth)

(smooth)

Yes I've seen same problem. And I'm not so sure it's perians fault it happens for mp4 videos even.

OK, maybe the new version of Quicktime will address this problem? Will install it tonight.

Looks to be like it wasn't de-interlacing it properly, making it progressive and smooth. Try VLC for us and see if that has the same problem.

Yup VLC works fine (already checked that when I first started noticing it).

Ok, not fixed by the new version of quicktime... it does fix itself up if you pause & play though.

Perian also has some stuttering issues when I play content through my TV from my MBP, while VLC has no problems. Perian used to work fine under Tiger.

That's not a deinterlacing problem. That's a scaling problem.

Ok my last option was to uninstall perian - so I've done that, and now using the Divx codec + Xvid handler... don't seem to be having the weird scaling issues any more.

Bugger... looks like I spoke to soon, same scaling issues again.
