What does this mean in Finder?

See the bottom left corner of the Finder window here...

Can anyone tell me what option I have enabled to make that little logo show up in Finder? It doesn't appear to be snap to grid...and whatever I've done its made it so the thumbnails in that Finder window just automatically rearrange themselves according to what size I make the window, which I love because up until now I've had to scroll all over the place to see all the files and I just want to know what I've accidentally done so I can do it again in some (not all) other folders.

Thoughts?

It means you have items listing 'by name', go into Preferences on that window and you can change it

That can't be right. A folder of mine displays images all ordered by size, I still see that icon...

You must have set arrange by something other than none/grid in the Finder view options.

That's right & if you select 'Keep Arranged by" none, then the icon will go away.

So, if I arrange by none, is that what was making the thumbnails just spread out far beyond the borders of the Finder window so I had to scroll a long way across the screen to be able to see all of them?

Having a large icon size & setting 'Label position:" right would do that.

ok i've had a play...label position seems to be the big contributor...i've set it to `bottom' instead of `right' in a bunch of places and its working.
thanks heaps!
