Disk Utility 'destination' box, greyed out. Help.

This has got me stumped as there doesn't seem to be many options but obviously I've missed something. I'm trying to restore a Volume on an external drive.

The volume is mounted and it is saying that I have read/write permission and the 'ignore permissions' checkbox is also checked.

I'm in the 'Restore' tab of DU and I can drag the source image into the 'Source' box but the 'Destination' box is greyed out and I am unable to drag the Volume I want to restore into the box. The 'Restore' button is also greyed out. I tried erasing the volume first but that didn't help. The Volume is indicating 'Apple Partition Map' and it was erased to HFS extended (journaled).

I've tried making myself an admin but that didn't help, I've tried the "ignore permissions" checkbox, both checked and unchecked. I've run out of ideas.

Any ideas?

I had this problem too the first time. Try erasing the disk, then dragging it in from the Disk Utility side bar. Doing that for me fixed it. In my case, I used the Partition tab, creating a single volume with the older Mac OS partition scheme as it was for a Leopard image restore for installing on a PPC machine.
