Leopard and SMB shares with Symlinks Problems...
Like many of you I've upgraded to Leopard on my MBP.
There is one problem however that we're having with Leopard in relation to SMB shares with symlinks on them.
Unlike in Tiger, Leopard's SMB/CIFS supports the Unix Extensions, which include support for server-side symbolic links. I have some SMB shares on some Unix systems (Solaris) and of course we make use of symlinks in those filesystems. How our problem manifests itself now is that in Tiger everything worked just fine; but in Leopard, Finder tries to translate these links to the local filesystem, which of course results to the links being dead (finder or pathfinder give some message about the alias being broken and whether you wanted to fix it).
I was wondering if others had noticed this and were aware of any fixes/solutions?
