They scroll sideways through the documents.
Actually it works exactly the same as the scroll wheel, but It feels more sensible with the sidescroll.

My tip.
Just have a go with Quicklook.
It seems to work everywhere!

Just found this useful tip/option today. Assign an application to a particular space - that way the application automatically opens in a space and doesnt clutter the main window.
Go to the Spaces preferences.

This is the feature that I originally thought I wouldn't use, then it turned out to be the feature that got me using Spaces.

not really a tip, but cool:
despite apple.com being vague about front row support on non ir macs, i can now confirm my g4-non-ir-mac-mini-media-centre plays beautifully with front row!
actually, heres a tip. pop your porn in your movie folder, but keep your movies in itunes.. mmmm, discreet...

I hadn't thought too much about Quicklook. But I found myself using it all the time. It's a real time saver.

Not sure if this has been posted or not so sorry if it has, but I just discovered it over at WP.
Change your screensaver to the Nature pictures and put it on "Mosaic".*

My spaces tip:
If you like neatness, assign your major apps to individual spaces, then set the Finder, System Preferences and IM apps to show on all Spaces. Then if you, say, open a Finder window, but need to drag something from it to an app that is on another space, you can switch spaces without having to re-open the Finder window or move it.

Great tip. But where do I find the "Finder" app? I cannot add it to spaces?
found it: it is in core services.

In system prefs there is an icon called 'expose and spaces'. It is up the top (in the first row) in the middle. Click on that and then choose the spaces tab.
Then you can choose how many spaces you want and what applications to allocate to them.
Hope this helps!

Leopard's Finder now allows the Name column to be dragged to ridiculously wide. Which is good for me, for journal articles.
I seem to remember this being a problem in Tiger, but can't be sure.

This exists from Tiger, but still a good tip: If you hate the default column width in Finder's column view, option-drag the width adjustment thing, while in column view, to not only change the width of all columns but the default width.

Thanks for that one, I've seen an option in NEXTSTEP to change default column width and though it was a shame it was gone.
PS It doesn't seem to be working though it's not setting it as the default width.
PPS after a few tries it has, weird and buggy that is.
