You could have files there that are stored AFTER time machine has made its most recent backup, but BEFORE time machine makes its next backup (so basically you get 1 hour before it backs up again to create a new file, stuff around with it, delete it - before time machine gets to touch (see/copy) it).
Alternatively... unplug the drive!!!
That doesn't help when Time Machine has already backed it up.. but I am sure you can browse the files that ARE backed up via Time Machine. Aren't they just stored on the drive somewhere?

You just go into Time Machine, find the file you want to delete and tell it to " Delete all backups" of that file. Of course (I'm pretty sure) you can always tell it to exclude certain files/folders from the backup in the first place...

Forensic police are just going to love Time Machine.
It must be hard to be a computer consultant for a gangland crook..,
CC: I advise you to back up with Time Machine.
GC: I advise you, if you don't want a horse head in your bed, disable all backups.

Where to start...
All the new gui's bits are great. I love the menubar, dock, finder. Some apps looks a little wierd with the new toolbar color but you get used to it eventually.
Quicklook is also really nice although i havent used it alot simply beause the kind of files i use the most are so quick to open with real apps it doesnt make much difference.
Coverflow in finder may not seem that useful but i quite like it. I've used it a fair bit and i think i actually prefer it over other views for searching(not general file browsing though).
Developer tools. Some awesome stuff here. Obj-C 2.0, Core Animation, all the new classes, new version of xcode... Probably the best developer tools update for several OS releases or possibly since 10.0. IB3 is quite a big change. Lots of great new stuff but there have been some layout changes in the inspector especially which take a while to get used to.
Dashcode is pretty much as i expected. It's a cool app but i dont think its the most useful tool in the real world. Unless you want your widget to look and work like every other dashcode widget then you will still need to have some code skills and graphics skills. Still a good intro for newbie widget developers though. Will atleast get you started and give you some useful code that you can expand on.
Sharing & Networking. I really like the new network share setup in finder. Really makes things alot easier and faster. But the biggest change in in sys prefs. The new file sharing controls are so much better then 10.4. Being able to share individual folders plus control which users can access them absolutly rocks.
Airport menu extra. May not seem like a big thing but if you switch airport networks alot i reckon you will really like it. Just so much faster then it was in 10.4
iChat. Every iChat user has probably been waiting for this update. Tabbed chats, Dock icon badges... Just make it so much nicer to use. No need for chax now.
iCal. I'm not a big iCal user but i like the new gui. Fits in with everything else better now. The improved intergration wtih other apps(mail especially) will be really handy for alot of people. For developers the new storage api is a big change over the old database. Its going to make working with the ical database alot easier and alot faster.
Preview.app. Not going to go into much detail. Biggest changes are with pdf's
Spaces. I think this is the kind of thing where some people will love it and some won't have the slightest interest in it. I find it to be very useful as im always working with alot of apps and windows.

WAHOO!!!!
I just got mine delivered at work.
The courier guy said he's got hundred's to deliver today.
The all came in at once. He is going to be very busy today.
Apparently I was the first one he has delivered on his route in Melbourne.

How big was the box containing Leopard? I have to go out at 10:15am... hoping that they come before that. If not, might leave a note to leave it in the mail box if it isn't too big.

im happy with it, people have already pointed out the good.. here's some negative things i noticed.
- repairing permissions takes ages compared to tiger.
- not a fan of the new software update, you cant see what's being installed and the progress bar jumps back and forth.
- wallpaper is lame. businesses and corporations who buy macs are going to have this cheap space aurora wallpaper at all their login screens. not a fan.
other than those im loving it. all programs are working fine.

I'll give it about a day before a way to change that surfaces....hopefully anyway, I've never been a fan of the space wallpaper.

TNT was delivering them in Melbourne that I know of ...
It said on the soft package that Apple authorises the parcel to be placed in a secure location if consignee is not home (private address). NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED.
The box is the size of 3 cd cases bound together. Very tiny.
