I don't know actually! All this time I've been copying rather than allowing them to be aliases because I didn't think it would work. Maybe it does? I'm on Leopard now so I can't check - sorry.

Has someone said that Time machine is way too paranoid? Back up every hour over a 24 hour period, if mean what is that? It's not as though it's a windows machine that could crash any moment for no reason. Off it goes.

I wish there were some settings to play with in Time machine other than what folders to skip. I have a noisy external drive, which drives me nuts if I leave it on all the time. Plus, the only time my iMac is on for long periods is either recording shows on Eyetv or crunching the shows to put on the AppleTV. I only need to back up once a day at most.

What the fuck was I thinking? I don't what possessed me to pre order a family pack and install it on my powerbook and powermac and in doing so become a defacto beta tester. Sorry fellow early adopters, but it's not the most intelligent we'll have done this year.
Not having any major issues except Airport seems a bit flakey. Coconutbattery is not working properly either. Software update is now working but there's nothing to update anyway.
Don't like the semi transparent (or is it translucent) menu bar and menus. I like to have my dock on the side and it looks blocky there- completely different to how it is on the bottom.

Instantly spotlighting external drives has made this purchase entirely worth it for me.
The ability to skim over a terrabyte of information that fast is so, so awesome.

i heard that you can leave your external drive off, time machine will do the backup once you turn it back on again.
as for problems, i still cant run cron jobs and repairing permissions still doesnt work properly either, it runs for ages then tells me something about the ARD client or something ... but im not to bothered ... as for performance, even on my lil ole G5 imac leopard runs great.
i love having the path bar in the finder ... lets me see where i am without having to command-click on the window title ... i only wish apple would update iTunes to use cocoa ... iTunes is by far the slowest app in leopard, and iTunes still uses the old close, minimise and expand widgets

I found the time machine backup was extremely slow on my FW800 drive, and it also made the computer chug a little when I have 4GB ram..

Permissions repair failed for me too. I had to do a clean install to rectify my kernel panics.
However a reinstall on my G5 seems to have rectified airport drop outs which is a contrast to a lot of other users.

Cool stuff
Time Machine is really good but can only easily backup to one drive. Secondary backups still require more work.
Window Sharing is really really good. I just deleted Chicken of the VNC.
You can widgetize any webpage from Safari
There's some new utility apps. Podcast creator and Directory
Finder doesn't bonk out when a server disconnects.
Not cool
command+option+down/up arrow now load content in current window, rather than new window
list/column/icon view is now set globally, rather than per folder
stacks replaces heirarchic folders....wtf! Apple could have left both options in.

You guys have to remember that many developers havent had access to the final build of leopard - until now. Progs and widgets may be borked for a few days/weeks, until updates are released.
Patience!
