I had to click on the shiny "skip" button! Too Long. Installer then said it was going to take just under 3hrs! Came back after one and it was done.
So far so good, iCal was a little weird with buttons missing, background windows are lighter (seems the wrong way around!) and my RSS feeds in safari reset.

I always liked how the OS X installer uses real applications and real windows, not just pictures of windows with buttons on them. There is no CLI boot manager at the beginning, and best of all... a reinstall of OS X does not mean wiping all your much-loved software.
Actually to tell the truth, I first discovered the nice reinstallation patterns of the Mac OS when I reinstalled OS 9 on my Mother's laptop when I was a kid... I didn't back up her work either. But she never knew when I changed the desktop background back to normal. After all, the file structure was exactly how she left it :P
But seriously. There are only three things I can say about Leopard. And those are these:
"Whoa..."
"...I want..."
"...Now"

Use the idea mentioned this morning on MacFixit, and the installation worked very smoothly onto an External (Bootable) Firewire Drive. Real handy to be able to leave the internal HD available with OS 10.4.10 intact and stillusable.
Looking good so far, but is it my imagination: where's iPhoto?

Time Machine is a amazing way to backup-the restore interface is very cool.

iPhoto is part of iLife - it doesn't come with OSX.
That said, I believe you should be able to install it from your Tiger install disks that came with your mac.
I'll let you know in about 45 minutes when I encounter the same problem - just doing the last few backups before I throw the disk in
