[Merged] Leopard & Adobe PS
Just before i pre-order Leopard.
In the back of my mind i think i remember reading something about Leopard and Photoshop CS 3 not playing well together (but i'm not sure, i may have dreamt it LOL!)
Does anyone know the answer to that?

Adobe said they aren't sure whether any of the CS 3 apps will work correct;y with Leopard. But now it has gone GM we should here something from adobe regarding Leopard and the CS 3 apps. If anything is needed we should see the updates sometime soon.

I think we've all seen comments regarding the in-operability of CS3 w/ leopard but there will be a fix sooner rather than later you'd have to think.
Mac exists for Adobe doesn't it?
Wouldn't this be the most used application suite on MAc??
I'm waiting until the first update personally - 10.5.1 - then I know I'm not doing the Beta testing!!

If Adobe apps are important to you, I'd wait for more info.
The long wait for a universal binary version of Photoshop immediately comes to mind.

If Safari 3 is present on your system, you cannot install any products from the Adobe Cs3 Product line.
Try it now if you want. (Safari 3 Beta on tiger)

Im saying, install with tiger+safari 2 - then upgrade to leopard
because if you install CS3 on tiger+safari2 then upgrade to safari 3 it works fine

Yes.
Archive and install, at this stage seems to be ok. That being said, just pray you don't have to re-install anything until the patch.
On that,
Hey Adobe, you've known about this since Safari 3 beta launch. Wtf, guy

One other issue that is worth mentioning, is that the Adobe CS3 products do not play well on volumes that are formatted as "HFS Extended (journaled, case-sensitive)" ... it's the 'case-sensitive' bit that makes the CS installers and apps chuck a wobbly.
I don't know if 10.5 will use case-sensitive as a default; we'll have to wait a week to find out.

I was just about to purchase Leopard (just punching in my CC number) ... then I remembered this thread.
Does anyone know if there's been any advance on this from Adobe? Cos if this issue exists then its gonna catch a lot of ppl out.
I'm doing a big piece of work in InDesign at the moment an can't afford to be snagged by Leopard. At the same time I really want to get it on the 26th. If upgrading is safe I'll go with that.

Nothing has changed from Adobe's end.
If you have a mission critical system, then you have a couple of options.
#1 - Keep tiger until a patch is available. (Obviously the safest).
#2 - Archive and Install Leopard, with all the Cs3 Apps you want on board. (Un-proven, but should work theoretically).
#3 - Clean install and hope for the best (Obviously the riskiest)

Yeah that sums it up, would option 3 (clean install) offer customised install options - choose which apps/components you want, in which case choose not to install Safari 3?
