It's October, where's my Leopard?

"Arriving in October"

I realise that they are highly unlikely to release Leopard prior to the last possible opportunity in this month, but it's an exciting count down for me as I'm hoping there will be new machines to match the new operating system.

I've been holding out for a Mac Pro revision since June. In hindsight I wish I had just bought in June because at each announcement I felt it's was a sure thing that the Mac Pro will be updated.

Even without a Mac Pro this month, at least I'll be getting Leopard.

I'd say Leopard will be announced (and therefore you can purchase your Mac under the up to date programme) either this Tuesday update (2nd) or more likely the next Tuesday (9th) for a release on 26th of October.

How does that work? They swap the machine for a new one or they send you the Leopard discs for free?

You send proof of purchase, some money, like maybe $20, and they send you the disks in a plain brown package.

If it's anything like the iPhone, it'll be released on the last weekday of the month!

If it works the same as last time, if you purchase a machine after the announcement but before it's released you pay $19.something for the Up-To-Date program which gives you a full copy of Leopard on DVD. Some macs packed before the announcement/release but sold after may or may not have a drop-in upgrade DVD for free (I had both of these situations occur when Tiger was released back in 05).

Leopard dates will firm soon. I wonder if we will see another Apple event for its release?

I'll just wait for the announcement. There may be a hardware update.

I believe there will be. They held an event in London for the iPhone after already announcing it in the US and Leopard is a much bigger deal to me than another Phone/mp3 gadget.

That is where Facebook would appear to think that. Who knows, someone's questioning it's officiality already it would appear.

Nah, they only hold events if there's something new to announce. For the iPhone they announced the date via a press release.
