Window sizing in OS X

Here's a curious thing I've found about OS X ever since its first version.
In the Finder, open any window and select "View as Icons".
Now when you press the green (+) button at the top left, the window changes to fit all of the icons ... except one!
It's always a single icon short and you have to manually resize to see that last icon.
Is this a bug or a feature?

It's always about 2 pixels short for me...

But yes, this is a BUG. Like many of the UI BUGs in the Finder. I hope that some of these things will be fixed in Leopard.

Forgie,
Ta for that.
Good to see it's not just me!
Is there a list of Finder bugs anywhere? -- then we could check 'em off as and when 10.5 appears.

Looks to be fixed in 10.4.11 (well for me anyway).

After the intial click on (+), try doing it again.
Interesting result!
Not what you wanted to start with, but closer.

Try opening a PDF in preview, putting it on "Auto resize" then hitting the zoom button several times. It changes every time you hit it. Amazing. {golf claps}

Bring back OS 9!

(Just joking. Because we miss setting memory allocation for each application. OMG...)

Seriously though, that's just one of the things that is a step backwards from OS 9, which seems to have been neglected. Another e.g, if a folder is open, and then that folder is trashed. In OS 9, that open folder would close.

But not in OS X.

Folder still exists even if it's in trash. So why should window close. In OS X you can even use things that are in the trash by dragging to dock.
