Need flash help

Can anybody point me towards tutorials that will allow me to add controls to a flash movie?
I am a muppet when it comes to flash but need to know how to do it, and here's why...

I have developed an e-learning system using Moodle. Many of the tests we run contain a MP3 file. Moodle has a plugin which makes a mp3 flash player appear when you add a link on the page to the audio file but it is very unreliable.
So my solution is to convert all of our audio files to swf files but I need the audio clip to have controls (Play, pause and a slider).

I figured out how to give it a play button but that's as far as I got.
I also tried converting mp3 - flv and then using the flash skins but just can't get it to work properly and it seems like a bad way to do it.

Can anyone help please?

MP3 converted to a SWF file? Check.

So is the audio SWF being displayed inside another Flash movie?
If so, how is it being called into the main movie file?

It may be as simple at giving the audio swf an instance name and then using the play() and stop() commands.

More details would help

All I have done is add the mp3 file to the library, drag the clip onto the stage and then export that to a swf file. I added a button (with the up down hover hit states).
There is no other movie.

soadaholic, thanks I will take a look through that site
