Limewire???

The missus is complaining about Limewire that she no longer
seems to get mp3's for the songs she wants. She says all that she gets now are .wmv files
and the odd mp3 but they are usually small in file size. I don't know cause I don't
use it but I did check it this morning and yes she is right, not as efficient as it used to be.
Has anything changed with how limewire operates?
Any rec' on a better altenative for searching for music?

cheers in advance

Try acquisition, it's not free, but you can use it without paying if you need to (just keep ignoring the nag screen).
That being said, i have noticed an increase in spam on the Gnutella network. In Acquision you can set it to filter out words like wmv, exe and files under 1 MB etc

Well assuming you wanted to get some mp3s of a wonderful Chopin concerto that was performed freely by a rural youth orchestra, you could always try this site, which is essentially a tweak of Google to search for mp3s on servers.

never had the need to buy it! It's always done what she wanted it to do
and even more reason not to now seeing as it's not performing like it did!
Or is it a case that by upgrading to LW Pro that it will do the job?

cheers smart arse!!!

Oh that's the other thing... Limewire is used to pirate stuff, so you could always search for a file through Limewire along the lines of "Limewire Pro Mac"

I have also noticed over the last year or so that the quality of Limewire has gone right down!

Just junk now when you try to search for something. Buying songs really is looking like a better option more and more.

I was referring to purchasing the music, rather then use a P2P client to download the illegal tracks. Not the purchase of some stupid P2P client called Limewire.

EDIT: meanwhile I am thinking this thread is borderline not appropriate considering what it deals with. Guess I'll get a 2nd opinion on that before we close the thread.
