MS office and OpenOffice
I recently upgraded OpenOffice to v 2.2, and now it appears to be interfering with how MSoffice works.

When I doubleclick on a .doc produced with Word, OO opens. When I right click and select word as the app to use, it starts and then crashes.

Secondly, when OO opens a word document, there is on occasion lots of crap - lines of alphanumeric stuff that I assume is graphics of various sorts - in the pages, but no actual graphics.

Any clues as to what is happening here and how to fix these irritants?
