Lets hope it doesn't die a slow death like the old Mac HTPC forums that had little to talk about.
The Mac Media Centre
Hopefully one to watch in the future, I mean, it shouldn't be that hard really. TV out can be added cheaply to Macs, as can audio, or 5.1 out for those who don't have it.
IIRC any Mac program has access to movie and audio playback features, the main challenge as I see it is building an interface and a way to browse your media files. Something like an iTunes for music and movies would be good enough for me. Even if VLC just offered a controller in full screen mode and worked a bit more like the apple DVD player I'd be happy.
However i think I'll still be getting an EyeHome, includes the remote, works across the network, no need to buy an audio out adaptor for my Cube either.
The
LaCie Silver Screen is also interesting, would be much more interested though if it was A Firewire (although I can live with USB 2). B Used a 3 1/2 HD, yes there is some TiVx device or whatever but it looks crap and it's too expensive, but this is too... grumble grumble grumble...
